A detailed and in-depth study, to explore the different aspects of socio- cultural factors associated with V. D. transmission and to delineate the role of professional social work for facilitating the effective management, prevention & control. It is based on personal interview of the patients of V. D. It has established the leading role of social factors in transmission of V. D. and is indicative of the fact that specific actions are necessary at the individual, family & community level for effective control. The role of professional social work was found to be pivotal and indispensable.

Some of the important suggestions based on the findings of study include urgency of introducing sex education, marriage guidance and counseling, family life education, augmentation of housing facilities, control on pornographic materials and wine/drug shops, provision of healthy recreational facilities, effective rehabilitation of prostitutes and regular health examination, organization and improvement of V. D. clinics with facility for epidemiological & social investigations etc.
